Teo's Sandwiches

Thursday, July 28, 2011

At around 8:20 after visiting the DMV to replace my lost drivers license, my dad took me to Teo's Sandwiches. I heard that the sandwiches there were not as delicious as Lee's Sandwiches. I saw the reviews at Yelp. They were pretty disappointing. I thought the place overall was bad.

As I approached the restaurant, I had a good feeling about it. The architecture was nice, the place was clean, colorful interior design, just everything was new. My dad pointed out that their logo looks like Starbucks'.

My dad proceeded to order the #9 Bánh mì chả lụa (Vietnamese meat loaf sandwich) for me. He told the cashier to have it plain - no vegetables: cilantro, peppers, cucumbers, and whatever else they serve it with chả lụa and pate.

On the way to my doctor for vaccination shots, I unwrapped the sandwich.

To our surprise, there were cilantro, cucumbers, and some other veggies in there; however, pickled julienne radish and carrots were nowhere to be seen.

Then, I looked at the receipt. The cashier misheard my dad. That's okay. We're chill people.

Since the sandwich was pretty and I was too lazy to pick everything out, I thought, "Why not?" I took a bite.

It was delicious, truly delicious. I would give it an "4" star.

In comparison to other banh mi joints, the baguettes from Teo's Sandwiches are very soft, especially softer than Lee's Sandwiches. The bread is thicker too, at least thicker than Lee's Sandwiches. They also served more meat; way more than Lee's Sandwiches.

I've been living around this area since forever. I visited many bánh mì joints around Little Saigon. Actually, I believe I visited all of them. From the Banh Mi Che Cali joints from Lee's Sandwiches from Tip Top Sandwiches, Teo's Sandwiches is my sandwich place now.

The bad reviews probably came from people's lack of patience. Once you wait in a long line with a bitter attitude, people will totally rage. That's what happened to my grandma. She rants about how horrible Teo Sandwiches is every time their commercial pops up on the SET channel.
